On February 14, 2026, representatives from E³ (Equip, Educate, Empower) visited children in Addis Ababa’s Jemo area to provide much‑needed educational support, offering encouragement along with essential learning materials.
The visit was carried out by Getaneh Alemu and Kenaw Gebreselassie (our voulnteer). Kenaw, originally from the Dabat area, rose from a modest background through education and completed two master’s degrees in Ethiopian and European universities. Now working with an international non-governmental organisation, he has become a source of hope and inspiration for children in his former community. We hope some of you in Addis will volunteer like Kenaw and support children in your areas (please let us know).
In his spare time in weekends, Kenaw, along with his daughters, occasionally purchases books and collects from some of his friends and organises informal reading sessions and encourages children. During the February visit, E³ also distributed stationery and learning materials to support the children’s studies.
Despite difficult living conditions, including some families living in very basic shelters, the children showed enthusiasm and hope. They were encouraged through stories of perseverance and reminded that education can transform lives. The children also enjoyed drawing and painting using the donated markers and notebooks, creating a joyful and creative learning moment.
The needs remain significant. E³ invites supporters to volunteer, sponsor a child or donate educational supplies, helping more children in Jemo gain access to the tools they need to learn and build a brighter future.
Since 2017, through the E³ (Equip, Educate, Empower) initiative, teacher Molla Chebud has been instrumental in securing support for the children and their families he teaches. Through his dedication, hundreds of children have received clothing, food, educational materials and basic hygiene supplies. He has also continually encouraged and motivated many pupils to attend school and pursue their education.
Today, Molla Chebud serves as a senior education leader, supervising several schools and hundreds of teachers. His commitment has made a lasting difference, and we owe him a great deal of gratitude.
